VALORANT Icebox Map

The Valorant Icebox map debuted as a decent map with everything you’ll want. However, recently, in April 2023, it was removed by the developers. Turns out, it was done with good intent.

The map was under reconstruction by Riot Games as they have incorporated feedback to improve the lacking areas for the best user experience. Yesterday, all the changes made to the Icebox were released alongside Episode 8: DEFIANCE.

The Valorant Episode 8 leaks Icebox changes are focused on the middle section of the map rather than the change directly on the sites or just around it. The following are all the Episode 8 Icebox changes.

1. Mid-Map Changes

The first minor change that you’ll notice will be in the middle section of the map, right outside the attacker spawn location. The area had a clear line of sight down mid.

The update has increased the sight as the height of the container is readjusted with an additional contained. This seems like a minor change, but in reality, it is not that small of a change.

If Jett, Raze, and Chamber are able to reach the top of this new double container setup, it will have a drastic impact on how things will unfold in battles.

It will help the attacking side and make it harder for the Defenders to spot players from across the map.

2. B Tube Changes

The B Tube area and generally the mid-area of the Icebox was a tough spot for the attacking team. It had limited mobility and restricted movement. The area has now gone under a complete overhaul to improve mobility.

The section of the tube leading toward the kitchen lacked a cover and was a rather one-dimensional area. That will no longer be the case as a new window between B-Kitchen and B-Tube has also been added.

This window will provide you with a direct line of sight to the defender’s side of the mid-map. Additionally, it appears to be large enough for you to exit from the Tube to the Mid-Map in case you need to make a quick escape.

Furthermore, a cover is also added right beside the window, and there are two small boxes in place as well that will help you either hide or take cover.

3. B Green Changes

The iconic suspended green container on the attacking side posed problems for both teams. Fortunately, it has now been raised higher into the air, significantly increasing the approach distance for both sides.

If the mobility-based agents can climb the green containers, it will unlock a new dimension in strategic planning and create challenges for the opposing team.

4. B Snow Pile Changes

When it comes to the B Snow Pile, the open area just outside the opening from B Kitchen leading towards the B Site has been entirely closed off and covered by multiple containers.

This change will streamline the approach towards the B Site through Mid for the attacking side, which was previously a significant challenge. However, this eliminates a crucial rotation opportunity for defenders.

Furthermore, it will push the defending team to come up with refined strategies, and effective off-angle holds for that area to thwart advances by attackers coming from that region.
