What Is New In The Stardew Valley 1.6 Update?
The Stardew Valley 1.6 Update was released recently and came with a ton of new features and improvements. The new content update brought new items, a farm layout, and many improvements to the game.
While there is a full patch notes available for the new update we will be discussing the new content that is introduced in the Stardew Valley 1.6 update below in more detail to ensure you get the proper gist of things.
Mastery System
If you have played the game long enough then you have probably leveled up your skills and reached a decent mastery. However, if you think you can not advance anymore then this new addition will help you. The Mastery System gives a whole new set of skills that you can level up to advance further in the game.
New Festivals and Events
Another addition introduced in this update is four new festivals and events to help make the game more interesting. A three-day event will take place on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of Spring in the Desert. Two new fishing festivals, the Trout Derby and the Squidfest, will allow you to earn sweet rewards for catching Rainbow Trout and Squid.
New Farm: Meadowlands Farm
There is a new farm layout introduced in the 1.6 update called the Meadowlands Farm and animal lovers will love it. The new farm has a ricer and two ponds which will help you catch fish without having to leave your farm. There is also a new type of grass, Chewy Blue Grass, which animals can eat. The biggest thing is yet to be mentioned, you will get a free coop and two chickens.
World Map Update
A much-needed feature in the world map is now here and you will be able to see your location in the world map. This feature is sure to make navigating the ever-expanding map easier for new players.
Multiple Pets
If you have managed to acquire full hearts with your starter pet then this update will give you more so you can add more pets. Additionally, you can now get a completely new pet in the game, a turtle. The turtles come in two colors, a normal-priced green and an expensive purple.
New Crops, Fish, and Resources
The new content update introduced new crops, fish, and resources that you can collect in Stardew Valley. The new crops – carrots, summer squash, broccoli, and powder melon can not be purchased from stores. These new additions also bring a new quest in which you can find and collect these new resources.
Golden Joja Parrot
In the preview update for Stardew Vallery, there was a new area introduced called Ginger Island. Players had to collect Golden Walnuts at the island and if you had trouble collecting all 130 then this new addition will be of great help to you. The new update introduced a Golden Joja Parrot that you can hire and it will find the Golden Walnuts in return for money.
The Bookseller Comes to Town
The Bookseller comes to town two times a season and offers a variety of books for sale. You can purchase and use these books to level up your skills, run faster, and even make more money when selling items.
Mystery Boxes
Players who have the Millionaire achievement on their accounts can get Mystery Boxes from Mr. Qi. These are random and if you are lucky then you might get a mysterious box at night dropped by Mr. Qi. You will need to find a blacksmith to unlock the boxes and once unlocked you will be rewarded with random freebies. Which can include, meals, gear, books, and even high-value items. You can also try digging up artifact sports, mining, and fishing to find these boxes.
