Effective Against Poison Pokemon: In Pokemon, battling opponents is not as simple as throwing out your best Pokemon and using it to annihilate the opponent. Although you might get away with that strategy from time to time, there is a whole lot to it, and battle mechanics are much more complex than just that.

When it comes to battle mechanics, there are Pokemon types to take into consideration. Each Pokemon in the game possesses certain weaknesses and strengths that make it either more or less effective in a given situation.

The Pokemon universe encompasses a total of 18 types, and each Pokemon type has an inclination toward one or two specific types. This makes putting together a team of six a hassle, as you have to consider various factors and ensure that all bases are covered.

You need to be prepared for whatever the opponent may throw at you when you step into battle. This guide will provide you with the Pokemon Super Effective Chart, detailing the strengths and weaknesses of each Pokemon type in relation to one another.

Pokemon Super Effective Chart Explained

Effective Against Poison Pokemon: Pokemon Super Effective Chart Explained

The concept of type effectiveness has been integral to the main series from its inception, and even in recent releases such as Scarlet and Violet, there are in-game lessons and a math tutorial to illustrate the outcomes when using a specific Pokemon.

The Pokemon super effective chart provides you with details on each Pokemon type and explains its super effectiveness and weaknesses against other Pokemon.

The chart has long served as a tool to navigate the intricate battle mechanics system in the game to determine the weaknesses of each Pokemon for both veterans and newbies alike, as it is impossible to memorize the weaknesses and resistances of more than 1,000 Pokemon.

A conventional Pokemon Super Effective Chart doesn’t contain the dual types of Pokemon, as including them would result in a considerably lengthy chart.

Therefore, it is critical to know about the Dual Type and the STAB mechanics before jumping to the chart itself. Read on to learn about both of them in detail.

1. Dual Type

DUAL TYPE – Effective Against Poison Pokemon: Pokemon Super Effective Chart

When you’re facing a dual-type Pokemon and your move is super effective against both types, the dual-type Pokemon will take 4x damage from that move. Conversely, if a move is not very effective against both types, it reduces the damage by 0.25x damage.

If we deploy a fire-type attack against the Grass/Steel-type Pokemon, it will result in 4x damage as fire is super effective against both Grass and Steel types.

However, against a Water/Dragon-type Pokemon, the gaming will be reduced by 0.25x the standard damage, as fire is weak against both Water and Dragon.

In cases where a move is strong against one type but not the other, the effects balance out, leading to the standard damage output for that move. The fire-type attack against a Water/Ice-type Pokemon inflicts standard damage as Fire is strong against Ice but weak against Water.

2. STAB Mechanics

STAB MECHANICS – Effective Against Poison Pokemon: Pokemon Super Effective Chart

STAB or the Same-Type Attack Bonus provides a reward for using an attack that shares the same type as the Pokemon executing it. It will result in a 1.5x damage boost.

Additionally, this bonus stacks with any super-effective boosts. Take Pikachu for example, an Electric-type Pokemon, employing the Electric-type move will receive a 1.5x boost for that specific attack.

The STAB mechanics are a critical consideration in Scarlet and Violet due to the introduction of the new Terastalize mechanic that can alter the Type of your Pokemon.

If you have a Pikachu with the Dragon Tera Type and choose to Terastalize it, it will transition from being an Electric-type to a Dragon-type. Consequently, any Dragon moves it might know will now benefit from STAB, along with its Electric moves.

The chart works a little differently for the Pokemon GO (mobile game). While details are a bit the same with a few exceptions, the damage multipliers are completely different.

The Super Effective Pokemon type will deal 1.6x damage instead of 2x damage. Meanwhile, the Resistant or Immune will also cause 0.39x damage instead of zero damage.

A Not Very Effective move will result in 0.625x damage, and if you stack up two weaknesses against a dual type, it will result in 2.56x damage compared to the 4x damage from the other games.
