GTA 5 Story Summarized
Now that you know which missions you can play in GTA 5’s Story Mode, we figured it might be a good idea to give a summary of the story mode too.
The game begins in 2004, when Michael Townley, Trevor Philips, and Brad Snider tried robbing a bank but it went wrong, resulting in Michael being presumed dead and Trevor escaping. Nine years later, Michael lives with his family in Los Santos after having made a secret agreement with the Federal Investigation Bureau agent Dave Norton to stay hidden.
On the other side of the city, a gangbanger Franklin Clinton meets Michael while attempting to repossess his son’s car. The two become fast friends and eventually develop a mentor/pupil relationship. Things take a turn for the worse when Michael heavily damages a mansion belonging to drug lord Martin Madrazo, who demands compensation, leading Michael to go back to a life of crime and eventually become mortal enemies with billionaire Devin Weston.
Michael and Franklin end up robbing a jewelry shop, which breaks Michael’s agreement with Dave, who then blackmails him, Franklin, and Trevor to perform a series of operations for them. With the final heist of The Union Depository in planning, Trevor discovers that Michael had set him up back in 2004, which caused friction between the three.
At the very end, Franklin is confronted by both Dave and Steve. Dave believes Trevor should be put down, while Steve wants revenge against Michael. At the end of the day, it’s up to the player as Franklin to choose between killing Trevor, killing Michael, or attempting to save both in a suicide mission that goes perfectly.
