Simply put, sim racing or simulated racing video games are games that simulate the physics and mechanics of real-world racing. The simulation attempts to accurately simulate auto racing, complete with real-world variables such as fuel usage, damage, tire wear and grip, and suspension settings.

F1 23 is a racing simulation video game and the 16th chapter in the F1 series. The game also holds the official license for the 2023 Formula One and Formula 2 championships and is developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports. It was released on April 28, 2023, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Microsoft Windows.

Forza Motorsport is a sim racing video game developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. It was released on October 10, 2023, for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Microsoft Windows. 

Forza Motorsport includes more than 500 vehicles and 800 upgrades, as well as 20 newly built tracks. The game features elements such as tire wear, dynamic time of day, paint chipping, and dirt buildup to better simulate the conditions of a real-life race.

EA Sports WRC is a racing video game that was developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports. WRC was released on October 31, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows. 

This game holds the official license of the World Rally Championship and is the first Codemasters rally game to have the official World Rally Championship license since Colin McRae Rally 3 in 2002.

Project CARS 2 is a motorsport racing simulator video game developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by the Bandai Namco Entertainment group. It was released globally on September 22, 2017, for the Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation 4.

Project CARS 2 features 189 and includes 140 track layouts at 60 different locations. There is also a new system called LiveTrack 3.0, which introduces dynamic tracks and the players never know what the condition of the tracks will be until the start of the race.

Assetto Corsa (Italian for “Race Setup”) is a racing simulation video game developed by Kunos Simulazioni. Originally the game was released through the Steam Early Access program on 8 November 2013. However, after the final release version was released on December 19, 2014,  the game officially left Early Access. 

On June 3, 2015, Kunos Simulazioni in partnership with 505 Games announced their plan to release the video game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. After some significant delays, the game was finally on those consoles in August of 2016.

Need for Speed: Underground is a racing video game developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. The game is the seventh chapter in the Need for Speed series. It was developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. Three different versions of the Need for Speed: Underground were released: one for the Game Boy Advance and another for consoles and Microsoft Windows.

The game features many different modes, including circuit, drag racing, drifting, and several others. There is also an option to modify the vehicles, players can buy both performance upgrades and visual upgrades.

Dirt Rally 2.0 is a racing simulation video game developed and published by Codemasters. The game is a sequel to the 2015 racing video game, Dirt Rally, and was released on February 22, 2019, for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation 4. A version was released for the Amazon Luna on June 3, 2021. 

Dirt Rally 2.0 focuses majorly on realistic driving physics on tarmac and off-road terrain in varying weather conditions. The game introduces a new weather system where changes in the weather affect the visibility and level of road grip, which require players to take a more careful approach.

Gran Turismo 7 is a racing simulation video game developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game was released on March 4, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and is the eighth main installment and the thirteenth overall in the Gran Turismo series.

Gran Turismo 7 features dynamic time and weather effects to better simulate real-life situations. This is one reason why the Gran Turismo series is so popular with sim racing fans.

Assetto Corsa Competizione (Italian for “race setup”, “competition”) is a racing simulation video game and is the sequel to the fan-beloved Assetto Corsa, also developed by Kunos Simulazioni. The game was announced in February of 2018 and was released on the Steam Early Release in Early 2019.

In March 2020 Kunos Simulazioni once again partnered with publisher 505 Games and Kunos Simulazioni to announce ports of the game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which were released on 23 June 2020. In 2021 at Gamescom, versions were announced for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5, which were released on 24 February 2022.

Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition is a racing video game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. The game is the third chapter in the Midnight Club series and was released in 2005. Similar to previous chapters in the series, the game primarily focuses more on wild, high-speed racing, rather than realistic physics and driving simulations. 

Players can race through open-world recreations of San Diego, Atlanta, and Detroit. This is the first game in the series to feature licensed vehicles. The players have the option to modify their cars, either to increase performance for racing or to change the visual look of the vehicle.
