6 Top Persona Games
Here’s a countdown of the six best Persona games starting from the worst and ending with the best. Naturally, this is entirely our opinion, so be sure to let us know if you think a game deserves to be higher on the list!
6. Revelations: Persona
The OG was released for the PlayStation 1 in 1996 and started the fan-beloved Persona series. While it is quite different from the later titles in the games it is still a very good game and worth a play. However, keep in mind that music, colors, and relationships between teammates will be lacking. Revelations mainly had horror aspects like the Shin Megami Tensei series and expanded on the high school setup.
5. Persona 2: Innocent Sin
A game filled with Nazis, Mayan culturists, and doomsday prophecies has everything needs to become an amazing play. Persona 2 Innocent Sin is the one that introduced the Persona summoning ability in the series. However, it removed negotiations which some feel was a bad choice.
4. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
There is very little to differentiate between the two Persona 2 titles. The main difference is that Eternal Punishment is based on an alternate timeline compared to Innocent Sin. The protagonist is Maya, a team member from Innocent Sin.
She teams up with friends to hunt the Joker, an enemy that murders on request and has the power to make people act on their worst desires. Eternal Punishment has both summons and negotiations in battle so if you missed the latter in Innocent Sin then Eternal Punishment is the one for you.
3. Persona 4
Something new that was introduced in the titles from Persona 4 onwards is the ability to control each party member individually. This new feature allows for better strategizing and more fun gameplay. The main difference between P4 and earlier titles is the bright and bubbly nature of P4 compared to the dark elements of the older games in the series.
2. Persona 5
Persona 5 is one of the best in the series and that is why it is number 2 on our list. The biggest criticism that P5 can get from fans is the long playtime of 80 to 120 hours. While the game tries to make gameplay more comfortable by letting players exploit the weakness of enemies in turn it makes the game a bit too easy. P5 provides one of the best social relations between teammates in the Persona series.
1. Persona 3
Persona 3 has aged like fine wine. It is the closest game in the Persona series to showcase the inspiration of the Shin Megami Tensei series without getting too dark. It also makes some changes to the battle system and it functions similarly to Final Fantasy but you can only control the player character.
