Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Release Date
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second installment in a trilogy and the first game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, was released for PlayStation 4 in April 2020. In 2021 an enhanced version, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, was released for the Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 5.
Nearly 4 years later, on February 29, 2024, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5. It is not surprising that the PlayStation 4 is not supported as even the PlayStation 5 will be getting an upgrade in the form of PlayStation 5 Pro, later this year.
We don’t have confirmation as to whether the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on the PlayStation 5 Pro but looking at the first installment in the trilogy, it would not be wrong to suggest that there is a high chance of it happening. Since the game is Sony exclusive, it only makes sense if the latest Sony console is also supported to ensure the targeting of Sony fans. Even if it doesn’t get an upgraded version, the game will still likely be playable on the PS5 Pro through backward compatibility.
Some good news for gamers who don’t play on consoles is that Sony exclusivity is not permanent for Final Fantasy 7 as there is a window. It was confirmed by the developers Square Enix that the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s exclusivity window will only last three months. So once that time passes, the game will be released for Microsoft Windows.
How Long Does It Take To Complete Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to have a significantly longer and more fleshed-out main storyline compared to the previous chapters’s portrayal of the tale. In addition, the FF7 open-world map is also huge and explorable to the players. It is so extensive that it will be used in the side quests as well, and not just the main story alone.
This ability to explore the world opens up the possibilities of mini-games, different enemies and stories in the world, and many more things that can take a player considerable time to finish completely. The director of the game, Naoki Hamaguchi, has even claimed an approximate playtime of 100 hours when players complete the main quest and all the other side content.
Hamaguchi has also confirmed that side content in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is nearly double that of the main storyline and all the side quests can still be explored after the players finish the main quest. This is very good news for those players who prefer to complete the main quest and then move on to the side content, and complete the game fully.
This method ensures that they can enjoy and immerse themselves into the main story of the game but still be able to finish the smaller side stories later on to successfully complete the game. Since the main quest is less than half of the full gameplay, it should be completed in approximately 30 to 40 hours.
How Long Does It Take To Complete Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo?
While the game has not been released yet, there are 2 demos of the game that have been released by Square Enix to keep you busy while you await the release of the final product.
The first part of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo, Fall of a Hero in Nibilheim, features both Cloud Strife and Sephiroth in a flashback chapter and the players can take control of both of the characters while they explore the open game world. This demo is estimated to be between 70 and 80 minutes long.
The second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo, Dawn Of A New Era In Junon, was released recently. Fortunately, players who had already completed the Fall of a Hero in Nibilheim were automatically upgraded so they could play without wasting any time. This second demo is estimated to be around 60 minutes long.
If you have not played the demos yet, do download them while you wait for the full game. Both demos combined have a playtime of a little over 2 hours, depending on how fast you go through them.
