All Upcoming Star Wars Video Games
Star Wars is easily one of the most recognizable and iconic pieces of media out there. From the prequels to the original trilogy to even the sequels, it’s as if every generation has a special place in its heart for this series. Therefore, there’s no surprise that the series also has several iconic video game releases.
However, the amount of Star Wars games seems to have dwindled in recent years, at least ever since new movies stopped coming out. That doesn’t mean new Star Wars games aren’t releasing at all, and that’s what we want to focus on today.
Below, you’ll see information on every single upcoming Star Wars game, including when you can expect to see it released, along with which platforms it might be released for.

Star Wars Outlaws (PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5)
First up is Star Wars Outlaws. This is one of the few games on this list that has actually been officially announced and is slated to be released in 2024. Developed by Massive Entertainment, the team behind The Division series and the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game, this game has reportedly been in development since 2021 and seems to be one of the most ambitious Star Wars games in recent years.
The thing that sets this game apart from most other Star Wars games is that instead of focusing on the Jedi and Sith, Outlaws puts you in the shoes of Kay Vess, a wanted outlaw who has to complete one last heist before finally freeing herself. She isn’t alone, however, as she has her furry sidekick, Nix, and ND-5, a suave android.
Additionally, the gameplay of Star Wars Outlaw is rather unique. Players are given the option to complete every mission in multiple ways, similar to the recent Hitman trilogy. Are you a fan of using stealth to complete missions? Then Kay has several stealth mechanics and silent finishers. If you prefer going guns blazing, however, then there’s always the option to use your trusty blaster. We just hope you don’t have Stormtrooper’s aim.
While this game has been confirmed to be released for the Xbox Series S, fans wonder if some mechanics will be left out, similar to what many are expecting Rockstar to do with GTA 6’s Xbox Series S version.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch)
Here’s a surprise announcement by Nintendo in the February 21, 2024 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. Those who grew up with the Star Wars franchise will likely remember the original Battlefront games. Well, you’ll soon get the chance to experience them again on modern platforms with updated graphics.
Graphics aren’t the only things that are getting polished, however, as the bundle will also include restored maps, characters, and more. Coming out on March 14, 2024, the collection that is likely intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved Star Wars Battlefront series will include 19 playable characters and over 50 maps that Star Wars fans will likely find familiar.
Star Wars: Hunters (Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS)
Hey, we can’t leave out the mobile players, now can we? Star Wars: Hunters is an upcoming team-based multiplayer game coming to mobile and Switch. Made by developer Zynga and Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars: Hunters reportedly takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, suggesting that we’ll likely see some familiar characters in it.
The game will focus more on the rebels, stormtroopers, and bounty hunters, and every character will reportedly be fleshed out with backstories. While the game was intended to be released sometime in 2022, the date was pushed back and it’s currently unknown when fans will have the chance to play it.
Respawn’s Strategy Games
We all know Respawn as being the developers of the extremely popular Star Wars: Jedi games. However, what many fans don’t know is that the company is planning to experiment a little with the Star Wars IP, and we’re all here for it.
While there’s no information on the release date or platforms of either game, we know that Respawn is working on both an FPS game as well as a strategy game. Respawn game director Peter Hirschmann is leading the development of the FPS project and with his background of working on Force Unleashed and the Battlefront games, we have no doubt it’ll be worth the wait.
As for the strategy game, it’s reportedly being developed by Respawn through a “production collaboration” with freshly established studio Bit Reactor. Worry not, as veteran developer Greg Foertsch is leading the new studio, and if his work on Sid Meisner’s Civilization series is any indication, we’re sure it’ll also be a treat for strategy and Star Wars fans alike.
Star Wars: Eclipse
If you’re a fan of both Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain, then we’re sure you must have heard of Star Wars: Eclipse before. First announced in 2021, Star Wars: Eclipse is supposed to be a new action-adventure by Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games.
Similar to other games developed by Quantic Dream, Star Wars: Eclipse is said to be a game with branching narratives and takes place in the High Republic Era in an “uncharted region of the Outer Rim.” While the characters and places in the game will likely be brand-new and completely unfamiliar, we have enough faith in Quantic Dream to know that the game will be a narrative masterpiece when it first comes out.
With that being said, while it was apparently in early development when it was first announced in 2021, we haven’t gotten any new news about it since then. However, it’ll likely show its face sooner or later, as the developers have had more than enough time to work on it.
Knights of the Old Republic Remake (PS5, PC)
That’s right, we just had to go through arguably the most awaited upcoming Star Wars game, which is the remake of the iconic Knights of the Old Republic. First revealed during the PlayStation 2021 Showcase, this remake promises to build the original 2003 game from the ground up or the PlayStation 5 and PC.
While not much has been shared about this game, we know that Bioware, the original developers of the first game, are working on it. All we got so far was a look at a revamped Darth Raven who was a customizable protagonist in the original game, before reports of the game being delayed indefinitely started circulating the internet.
Skydance New Media Star Wars Game
The final upcoming Star Wars game is the one that we arguably know the least about. While we know that Skydance New Media is developing a Star Wars game in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and Amy Hennig, the writer of big hits such as Uncharted and Jak and Daxter, the only other tidbit of information given is that the upcoming game is a “narrative-driven action-adventure.”
This concludes everything you need to know about all of the upcoming Star Wars games. Which one are you looking forward to the most, and are you hoping for a sequel to be announced for any game anytime soon? Personally, we want another Force Unleashed game, but who knows if that’ll happen. While we wait for these games to come out, check out Princess Peach: Showtime Release Date And Platforms.
