World of Warcraft has been one of the leading MMORPGs for several years now, and SoD, or Season of Discovery has brought a slew of new content to the game. In addition to the expected new raids and gear, players can also find several new runes.

With the release of SoD Phase 2, Activision-Blizzard has added several new obtainable runes to World of Warcraft. With the number of runes being so high, finding the best ones for your character can be overwhelming. What Are Runes In WoW SoD Phase 2?

Runes are equipable items that can be used by the player to unlock new spells, upgrade player stats, or be granted defensive abilities. Certain runes even allow the player to play different roles simultaneously. For example, if you give the Metamorphosis rune to a Warrior class character, it can take on the role of a Tank as well.

Runes can be placed in gear slots by the player and can be changed as long as the player is not in combat. Each of the runes will need to be equipped in either the chest, hands, waist, feet, or legs slot. The player will able to obtain their first rune after reaching level 2 and initiating a quest from their class teacher.

Locations Of Top 3 Runes In WoW SoD Phase 2

There are several runes and rune classes in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 2 but we will be looking into only the 3 that we find to be the best ones.

King of the Jungle Rune (Boots) – Druid Class

Firstly, you will need to go and talk to Darlaran Agent, who can be found at Ariden’s Camp in Deadwind Pass. Darlaran Agent will give you the Ariden’s Sigil, which you need to use to locate and defeat seven Dark Rider Elites. When you equip the Ariden’s Sigil and see the Dark Presence buff that is an indication of the presence of a Dark Rider.

Listed below are the locations of the Dark Riders –

Deadwind Pass: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 43 29.
Duskwood: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 23 47.
Swamp of Sorrows: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 69 28.
Arathi Highlands: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 34 35.
Badlands: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 58 54.
The Barrens: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 52 36.
Desolace: The Dark Rider can be found at /way 65 25.

Head back to Dalaran Agent, once you have obtained all of the ancient relics. You will be awarded the rune as a reward for returning all of the Dalaran Relics.

Maelstrom Weapon Rune (Belt) – Shaman Class

Your character needs to be at least level 30 for you to attempt to obtain the Maelstrom Weapon Rune. If you meet the requirement, head to Razorflank and defeat Charlga Razorflank to receive a scroll and initiate a quest. Once you have successfully defeated Charlga Razorflank and obtained the scroll, go to Rau Cliffrunner in Freewind Post, Thousand Needles.

Then go to Tarren Mill, following the River north. Find Bath’rah the Windwatcher at /way 80.4, 66.8. Before talking to him, do /pray and he will give you 3 quests to find elemental items. To start the elemental items hunt, go to Desolace and collect 10 Wind Orbs from Wind Elementals. Then head to Dustwallow Marsh and collect 10 Water Orbs from Water Elementals.

Finally, venture into Bad Lands and collect 10 Earth Orbs from the Earth Elementals East of Kargath.

Once you have obtained all 30 orbs return to Bath’rah the Windwatcher North of Tarren Mill, and bring Crystal Vial x1. Bath’rah will fill the vial for you. Take the vial and return it to Freewind Post. Give the filled vial to Rau Cliffrunner. Drink the vial and talk to the flight master in Freewind Post. Then defeat the Closest Caster, the Elite Water Elemental, and loot the eye. Return to Bath’rah the Windwatcher north of Tarren Mill to receive the Rune.

Sheath of Light Rune (Belt) – Paladin Class

The first step in obtaining the Sheath of Light is starting the Broken Hammer Quest. For that, you need to locate a Broken Hammer on the ground in Mannoroc Cove, Desolace /way 52.6, 84.8. Kill the Burning Blade Summoners to loot the required Torn Letter, then head to the Stormwind Cathedral to turn in the quest to Katherine the Pure /way 37.8 31.6.

Once there, you will receive the A Lost Brother quest and then you need to go to Menethil Harbor in Wetlands. At the harbor speak to Harold Riggs on the docks, and then go to Newman’s Landing /way 18.0, 74.5 in Dun Morogh (you can reach there by swimming south from Wetlands along the coast).

As soon as you get there, you will be attacked by enemies and will be required to kill them in order to loot the Orders from the Grand Crusader from them. Accept the Orders from the Grand Crusader quest and return to Stormwind to speak with Katherine the Pure.

After talking to Katherine the Pure, go inside the Scarlet Monastery Cathedral and defeat High Inquisitor Whitemane. Once High Inquisitor Whitemane is defeated, you go into her chambers and locate Aeonas the Vindicated. Finally, return to Katherine the Pure in Stormwind to complete the final quest and learn the rune.
