WoW SoD Phase 2 Patch Notes
First and foremost, we shall go through everything we know about what the new update will bring. It should be noted that Blizzard has not released information on everything that will be included in the new update, so fans can expect to be surprised at the date of the update.
New Dungeon, Items, and Quests
The first addition to WoW comes in the form of the Gnomeregan Raid Dungeon. Similar to Black Fathom Deeps in Phase 2, this will be a 10-man raid. It’ll also have a total of six bosses, which includes one additional new boss.
“There will be a variety of new items and rewards with even more epic rewards from additional sources beyond the last two bosses of the dungeon. There will also be new class sets to acquire and quests and rewards adjusted for level 40 players.” States the official Blizzard patch notes.
Another addition will be a new profession quest chain, and you know what that means. New materials to obtain and more powerful items to craft. With that being said, to ensure things are far, the raid dungeon will become available with the launch of Season of Discovery Phase 2, but there will be two lockouts on the normal weekly lockout timer at the start of the phase. Basically, raid resets will occur on February 13 and 20 to give both fast and slow levelers a chance.
“Season of Discovery Phase 2 will also have new skill books added as a part of 5-player dungeon drops from various creatures.” Perhaps the best thing about this is that these improvements will not take a rune slot, so feel free to go wild with the skill books!
New Runes
Moving on, the new update will bring a bunch of new and returning runes to the game. They include:
- Druid Runes, which features Eclipse and King of the Jungle
- Paladin Runes, which features Sheath of Light and Guarded by the Light
- Hunter Runes, which features Melee Specialist and Trap Launcher
- Warrior Runes, which features Rallying Cry and Blood Surge
- Rogue Runes, which features Shuriken Toss and Master of Subtlety
- Priest Runes, which features Mind Spike and Pain Suppression
- Warlock Runes, which features Invocation and Dance of the Wicked
- Dance of the Wicked, which features Missile Barrage and Chronostatic Preservation
- Shaman Runes, which features Maelstrom Weapon and Spirit of the Alpha
We highly recommend you check out the official patch page to learn more about all of the abilities all of these runes can potentially give you.
PvP Rewards and Updates
Now, it’s time to cover what we’re sure most of you were waiting for. That’s right, the PvP updates. The highlight is definitely the fact that Phase 2 will introduce a new PvP event called “The Blood Moon.” During this gruesome event, killing players will allow you to earn currency which can then be traded for various rewards. For those thinking of simply grouping up with friends, the event will be more difficulty for those in raid groups.
In addition to two new faction agnostic mounts that players will be able to acquire by participating in the event, there are several adjustments coming to the game too. The first is that players in groups of five or fewer will have a higher chance of being matched up against players in groups of five or fewer too.
Secondly, if you’re in a group of six or more then you’ll be more likely to be matched up against other premade groups with six or more. This will make things fairer for players moving forward to ensure that solo players don’t have to go up against full stack steams.
New Profession Recipies
Since the response to professions was so nice in Phase 1, Blizzard has decided to double-down on the new feature by building and expanding on it. Case in point, the approximately twenty new recipes across all non-gather professions. Naturally, this includes Alchemy, Enchanting, and Engineering along with Leatherworking, Tailoring, and Blacksmithing.
While the patch notes also hint at epic quest chains to unlock access to professions, they didn’t tell players what those quests will be like, so it’s something fans will have to find out for themselves.
Bye Bye GDKP Runs
The final WoW SoD Phase 2 patch note feature we want to highlight is the new policy which will no longer allow GDKP runs in Season of Discovery. This is done in an attempt to ensure that the traditional guild and social structures that have been a part of the game for so long stay as they already have been. With that being said, this is still an expirementational policy, so who knows what might happen in the future.
