There are several games in the GTA series and fans have different favorites. We will be listing our top 3 GTA games and giving thoughts on why they are our favorites.

3. Grand Theft Auto 5

GTA 5 is the first game in the series with support for multiple playable characters. The game has been receiving consistent updates for the past 10 years and this goes to show how committed Rockstars is to their fan base. The game was first released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and has supported 3 generations by rereleasing for the PS4 and Xbox One and then again for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Furthermore, GTA Online is the online version of the GTA 5 that receives several DLCs and updates which have still kept the game relevant. Additionally, the release of GTA Online has made the fans even more loyal due to the introduction of multiplayer gameplay.

2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

This next game in the list is one of the most memorable games not just of the GTA series but of all video games. Whether it is for the Miami-inspired Liberty City or the soundtracks that you could enjoy while driving around and enjoying the sights. The story of Vice City was a very strong point of the game and at times it even felt like it was a movie that you were playing a character in. There were many references and parodies of popular shows and movies that helped set the scene of the game.

The mini-games in Vice City were another highlight that made for extremely rich gameplay. For example, the taxi driver mini-game that players could do for some extra cash and get the bonus reward for completing 100 fares. Or the paramedic mini-game that had leveled monetary rewards and the bonus reward of the infinite sprint after the mini-game. While these may seem like small things they were a huge part of what made the game so much fun and memorable for players even after all these years.

1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

This cult classic will turn 20 years old in just a few months but if you still miss getting into the shoes of CJ, roaming Grove Street, and remember the order of Big Smoke by heart then this was the game that made you a die-hard fan of the Grand Theft Auto series. While this 2004-released game might not be the best game from a graphical aspect, it is hands down the most enjoyable and replayable game in the Grand Theft Auto series.

San Andreas was the turning point for GTA and made it into an RPG-like game by introducing new activities the player could execute. For instance, players could gain weight by eating food or muscle by hitting the gym. In addition, various gang war activities never let the game hit a low point.

Lastly, the betrayal and revenge angles of the storyline made things personal for players while playing. All in all GTA: San Andreas was the game that introduced the majority of the current fan base to the Grand Theft Auto series and that helped secure its place as the crown jewel of Rockstar.
